Energy Awareness/Savings

Your Energy Performance Certificate will provide you with some changes that you can make to your property to reduce your CO2 emissions.

Energy Efficient Light bulbs

Something as simple as replacing all of your light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs is very cost effective.

These last up to 10 times longer and use more then 75% less energy than traditional filament bulbs.

Loft Insulation

Many of us do not have adequate loft insulation. Modern houses are fine as the building regulations are very stringent on this issue. However, older houses often have no or inadequate loft insulation. The potential savings are very large and grants are sometimes available to upgrade your insulation. Fitting insulation that is at least 200mm thick could cut heat loss by around 20 to 30%.

Cavity Wall Insulation

If you have unfilled cavity walls, installing insulation could cut heat loss by 30%.

Upgrade Your Heating System

Sometimes your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) will recommend that you upgrade your heating system. It will always suggest a condensing combination boiler as these systems are very efficient

Hot Water Jackets

These cost from around £10 to £15, and can cut heat loss by around 70 to 80%.
